Fred Halstead’s coaching of executives emphasizes understanding and taking full advantage of one’s strengths, discovery of powerful new ideas, accountability and measuring results. As a result of his work as an executive search consultant for 30 years, Fred has an understanding of the traits of high performing leaders and how those traits can be adapted to unique cultural environments. Fred is the only senior level executive coach in the US who is an academically trained coach and has decades of experience in understanding many healthcare organization’s cultures and assessing the leadership skills of hundreds of senior executives.
In Fred’s work as an executive search consultant he has assessed over 1700 executives and studied the cultures of over 200 organizations. Two important aspects of coaching have been developed and honed along the way: listening skills and the ability to ask powerful questions. To further expand his coaching skills, Fred has completed the only academically based coaching program in the U.S. through a comprehensive masters level program offered by the University of Texas at Dallas. Fred specializes in coaching highly successful CEOs and senior level executives who are open to positive change and wish to increase their abilities as a great leader.
Fred’s executive search consulting career began in 1978 when he founded Halstead & Associates. He joined Ward Howell International 13 years later in 1991. Through three mergers, Fred served as a Partner with Ward Howell International, LAI Worldwide and TMP Worldwide. He joined StratfordGroup in 2000, which was acquired by DHR International in 2001. Fred was an Executive Vice President and the Managing Director of DHR’s Dallas office.
Fred is the author and co-author of articles published in national magazines. He has given presentations to professional associations and has been a guest lecturer in undergraduate and graduate school programs.
Fred graduated from Wabash College in Indiana and then attended Northwestern Graduate School of Business. He received his Masters of Business Administration from the University of Texas at Dallas. Prior to 1978, Fred served as an officer in the United States Air Force and in progressively more responsible financial management positions in industry. Since 1975, Fred has been an active volunteer as a board member, as chairman of the board and a fund raiser for several business, civic and community organizations in Dallas including the YMCA, United Way agencies, large civic groups, Central Dallas Association and his church. Fred and his wife, Donna, are grateful grandparents of two precious granddaughters.
